Fait de corne de buffle laqué, lien en coton ciré, marqué Hermes au dos, boite, Lift emprunte son célèbre motif à la ferronnerie de l'ascenseur du magasin 24 rue Faubourg Saint Honoré. Il représente deux H entrelacés, le « H » de la famille Hermès et le « H » de la famille Hollande, évoquant ainsi le mariage d'Emile Hermès et de Julie Hollande en 1900.

It represents two intertwined Hs, the “H” of the Hermès family and the “H” of the Hollande family, thus evoking the marriage of Emile Hermès and Julie Hollande in 1900.
